Jim is currently a partner and head of employment law at the national law firm BLM.  He qualified as a solicitor in 1992 and was previously the head of employment law at Manchester law firm Pannone and national firm Slater and Gordon.

Principally an employment and commercial lawyer, he has advised clients from both the public and private sectors, including the Bank of England, Manchester City Council, Kellogg and Reebok.  His extensive experience of social enterprises includes work with The Big Issue and several national and international charities.

Jim is chair of governors at the Loreto Grammar School in Altrincham, Cheshire, and a trustee of a primary Academy trust in south Manchester.  He regularly advises maintained, independent and academy schools on all aspects of education law in addition to his wider commercial practice.
