Jim is currently a partner and head of business employment law at the national law firm Slater and Gordon.  He qualified as a solicitor in 1992 and was previously the head of employment law at Manchester law firm Pannone.

Principally an employment and commercial lawyer, he has advised clients from both the public and private sectors, including the Bank of England, Manchester City Council, Kellogg and Reebok.  His extensive experience of social enterprises includes work with The Big Issue and several national and international charities.

Jim is a foundation Governor of the Loreto Grammar School in Altrincham, Cheshire, and a trustee of a multi Academy trust in south Manchester.  He regularly advises maintained, independent and academy schools on all aspects of education law, and in order further to enhance his understanding of the school system, he began studying this year to become a qualified School Business Manager.
