Mike Emmerich

Before founding Metro Dynamics, Mike was the Chief Executive of New Economy described by the FT as Manchester’s ‘Brain Trust’, initiating the Manchester Independent Economic Review. He played a central role in the development and negotiation of the Manchester devolution deals.

Mike was the founder Director of the Institute for Political and Economic Governance at the University of Manchester. Mike has experience at HM Treasury, where he was one of the founding members of the Productivity Team and was a senior adviser in the Prime Minister’s Policy Unit. 

Mike is a Member of the Economic and Social Research Council and a member of the Policy Committee of the Centre for Economic Performance at the LSE. Mike is the Chair of the Board of Manchester Baroque and a Director of Manchester Camerata. He is an Honorary Member of the Royal Northern College of Music and a Fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences.
