Tutor Trust's 2022 Impact Report

Download our 2022 Impact Report here

Our 2022 Impact Report, published in November 2022, showcases the remarkable work our tutors, partnering with schools across Greater Manchester, Leeds-Bradford and Merseyside, have done to support pupils in the last academic year.

The report tells the story of 2021/2022, which was a year of continued growth, and saw us even further strengthen the quality and impact of our work.

In the Impact Report, we celebrate our tutees’ strong results in GCSE examinations and SATs, and showcase some of the exciting developments that have taken place over the year. These include:

  • Our second successful Randomised Control Trial (link),
  • Our partnership with ImpactEd demonstrating the success of The Right Angle, and the launch of a further partnership with The Prince’s Trust Achieve programme to offer more choices to the most marginalised young people,
  • Our innovative Transition Programme to support young people making the move from primary to secondary school,
  • Our move into our fourth city, Bradford,
  • Our partnership with the University of Liverpool Maths School to deliver the MESME project to high potential mathematicians,
  • And the launch of our schools’ portal, Insight.

And, of course, we supported thousands of young people with tuition!

  • We reached 6,730 pupils last year, of which,
  • 2,875 were primary pupils, and,
  • 3,670 were secondary pupils, and,
  • We supported 185 pupils through our specialist Tutoring Plus service.
  • We worked in 198 schools, of which,
  • 111 were primary schools, and,
  • 87 were secondary schools.
  • 65% of pupils received Pupil Premium,
  • We had 72% pupil attendance,
  • At GCSE, Tutor Trust’s disadvantaged tutees did significantly better than disadvantaged pupils nationally, and the gap was even larger when compared with disadvantaged pupils across the 18 local authorities in which we operate.

Co-Founders Nick Bent, Chief Executive, and Abigail Shapiro, Executive Director, said: “In last year’s Impact Report, we were able to take stock of our successes over the last 10 years as we celebrated our milestone birthday. This year we have built on that, letting the facts speak for themselves to demonstrate the impact our tutors are having in schools.

“We set up Tutor Trust to fulfil a mission to transform lives through tutoring, and the stories we are sharing demonstrate that we continue to do just that.”
