COVID-19 Tutor FAQs

Tutor Trust is grateful to our hundreds of tutors who work in scores of Primary and Secondary schools across Greater Manchester, Leeds and Liverpool tutoring vulnerable and disadvantaged young people. Following the announcement of school closures on 4th January 2021, we are sure many of you have questions for us. We have compiled some FAQs which can be accessed below, but for anything left unanswered please contact your Schools Coordinator or [email protected]

Thank you for choosing to work with us and for your patience while we respond to the current circumstances. We know that the support offered to disadvantaged pupils by Tutor Trust will be needed more than ever and have every confidence in your abilities to deliver high quality tuition and transform lives through tutoring once again.

In the meantime, keep in touch and keep safe.

Will I be paid for any work I had lined up?

Expand

Tutor Trust relies on payment from schools; therefore, all the money we receive is for tuition hours that were delivered.  However, because of the value we place on our tutors in transforming lives through tutoring, we will pay tutors in full for all sessions that are cancelled by the school less than 24 hours before the start time.  This policy will only apply to face-to-face sessions.

Will I still be paid for the work that I have completed?

Expand

Yes, you will always be paid for any tuition session that took place. All tutors should be paid for any sessions that took place in December by January 25th (please let us know if you have not been paid). Any work that was delivered in January will be paid by 25th February 2021.

Please ensure that your registers are completed and up to date on Connect. If there is an error with your register or if it is not yet on Connect, please email your attendance data from the past few weeks to your Coordinator.

Are Tutor Trust providing any financial support for tutors who are all self-employed?

Expand

As a not-for-profit charity, we can only generate revenue through our services and therefore will not have the means to financially support tutors outside of paying them for their work.  As tutors are self-employed and not employees of Tutor Trust, they are unfortunately not included in the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme (‘furlough’).

Will the fact I'm unavailable to tutor at the moment affect my chances of getting assignments in the future?

Expand

We know social distancing measures, isolation and sickness will make some people unavailable for work at this time. These interferences with normal life will not rule you out of assignments in the future. Please do keep us informed as to your availability as and when circumstances change so that we know how many tutors we have available for work at any given time.
