Jenny Muter (She/Her) Director of Impact Expand An experienced secondary teacher and middle leader, Jenny joined the Tutor Trust in September 2017, working alongside Matt to ensure that all tuition sessions are of the highest quality. After graduating from the University of Oxford, Jenny went into teaching through the TeachFirst programme, which fit with her commitment to improving educational opportunities for young people from disadvantaged backgrounds. She stayed in her initial placement school for five years, and undertook a variety of leadership roles, including Assistant Head of English, Head of Humanities, and leader of Key Stage 3 Assessment. She successfully completed the Teaching Leaders fellows programme for high potential educational leaders. Jenny is a keen traveller and has also previously taught in China, as well as having volunteered on educational projects in Belize, Kenya and Sri Lanka.
Jovariya Ahsan (She/Her) Data and Systems Manager Expand Jovariya joined the Tutor Trust as the Online Coordinator in September 2020. She has previously lived and studied in India, teaching English to disadvantaged youths whilst completing her BA (Hons) in Linguistics. Jovariya led in charity work, helping educate disadvantaged people across a range of ages. In June 2021 Jovariya moved across to the Data and Systems Coordinator role. Jovariya previously worked for The Tutor Trust in 2019, as a tutor in Leeds whilst completing an MA in TESOL at Leeds University. In a previous life, she was an English Lecturer at a college in Bradford.
Hannah Cunningham (She/Her) Quality and Impact Manager Expand Hannah first joined the Tutor Trust as a Secondary English Tutor in 2016 whilst studying Psychology at the University of Manchester. She later went on to train as a Primary English and Maths tutor. Hannah is passionate about helping children to thrive and was awarded an ESRC funded grant to assist with research in child language development at the LuCiD Child Study Centre at The University of Manchester in 2017. After graduating in 2018, she joined the Teach First programme due to her passion for tackling educational inequality. She worked as a Secondary Geography Teacher in the North West where she gained QTS and a PGDE. She has now rejoined the Tutor Trust team as a Secondary Quality Manager and is excited about using her skills and knowledge gained from her time on the Teach First programme and past experience as a tutor, to help tutors to develop their practice and deliver high-quality tuition.
Robbie Maverick (He/Him) Digital Product Manager Expand Robbie is a comprehensive project manager who has worked across a number of diverse projects and disciplines in his extensive 25-year career, including fundraising and marketing as well as more recently around digital and technology. In his time, amongst other things, he has delivered an innovative gaming website for Marie Curie, and worked in partnership with the NHS and their unique data challenges – not once but twice! He has also built websites for clients such as YoungMinds and Girlguiding. His work has spanned not-for-profit and commercial organisations in a unique way and he is used to traversing the different challenges that each sector brings. Thanks to a grounding in marketing, he is a passionate advocate of data-driven approaches and has facilitated persona workshops and data deep dives with satisfying outcomes. When he is not puzzling over digital problems, he lives in Bristol with his 9-year-old son – ‘The Boys’; loves photography, keeping fit, the outdoors, and Asian food and will take anything electrical apart to try and fix it. He is a keen advocate for neurodiversity and the environment and is a Trustee for the Fair Credit Charity “I absolutely love the opportunity to find simple, human-centric digital technology-based solutions for complex problems – I’m looking forward to getting under the hood of this project for The Tutor Trust”
Charlie Whelan (He/Him) Full-time Tutor - Transition Project Expand Charlie joined Tutor Trust in 2021 as a part-time Secondary English tutor, delivering tuition while he studied English Literature at the University of Manchester. After graduating, Charlie decided to increase his time working as a tutor and at the end of 2021 decided to join the charity full-time as a tutor for the transition project, teaching Maths to Year 6 and 7 students. He is very excited to be part of The Tutor Trust team and work on such a fantastic project.
Keira MacAlister (She/Her) Impact Coordinator Expand Keira graduated with a BA (Hons) in Theatre from the University of York in 2019, and from then began work creating free and fair arts opportunities through JustOut Theatre. After University, Keira moved to London where she worked for a large West End production company. There, she realised her passion was creating access to culture and addressing the inequalities that lead to inaccessibility. In September 2020, Keira started an MA in Audiences, Engagement and Participation at the University of Leeds. Her MA research has further heightened her passion for challenging inequality. This pushed her to look for career opportunities that would allow her to make a difference, ultimately landing at the Tutor Trust where she is delighted to be helping tackle inequalities in education.
