As our Year 11 tutees receive their GCSE results today, we’re hoping they receive the results they need for whatever they’re planning to do next!

Of the 6,400-plus pupils we’ve supported this academic year, 2,289 have been Year 11 pupils studying English, Maths, and Science. Our talented tutors have not only helped them with vital subject knowledge in their final year at secondary school, but also helped them build self-confidence and learn vital exam technique.

For our tutors, supporting pupils over their final months at school has been memorable for all the right reasons.

Tutor Sonya Hadari began tutoring in Greater Manchester after completing her PhD at the University of Manchester in January. She has supported pupils at St John Fisher Catholic Academy, Dean Trust Ardwick, and Wellington School and particularly remembers one pupil's happiness after the GCSE Maths paper:

"He came happily to seek me out in the corridor after his first GCSE paper to say that absolutely everything we had covered in tutoring came up in the exam and he could do it!”

Our school partners have been keen to tell us how much they have appreciated the kindness tutors have shown and the support they have given to pupils. At Co-op Academy Grange in Bradford, we supported 204 pupils across all Year groups, 198 of whom were in Year 11 and our tutors supported them in Maths, English, and Science:

[The tutors] Siya and Aaron were extremely helpful and very flexible and accommodating with how they worked to support our students and proactive in their approach.”

Miles Davies, Co-op Academy Grange.

At Burnage Academy for Boys in Manchester, we ran a number of programmes across several Year groups, including two for Year 11 pupils.

Thank you ever so much for presenting new ways of mathematics to our pupils. It has been a pleasure to work with your ever so polite and communicative team.”
Zorni Tyson, Burnage Academy for Boys, Greater Manchester.

At St John Bosco Arts College in Merseyside, we supported 58 Year 11 pupils in Maths, English, and Science:

Tutors were effective at forming relationships with our pupils which is crucial to the success of the tutoring.”
Michael Johnston, St John Bosco Arts College.

And the pupils we support have been equally positive about our tutors and their impact.

"The tuition sessions are very helpful and have helped me to become more confident with Science."

Pupil C, Year 11, St Edmund Arrowsmith Academy

"I really enjoyed myself and if I had the opportunity to do it again I definitely would do it again - I really liked my tutor Miss Dryburgh."

Pupil S, Year 11, Our Lady's RC High School

And the last word goes to a Year 11 pupil at Harrytown Catholic High School who says their favourite moment of tuition was doing revision for the GCSEs:

“So I have the knowledge to pass them."

We hope you get the results you want today!
