Safeguarding Child Protection and Safeguarding The Tutor Trust believes that all children and young people have the right to grow up in a safe and caring environment. This includes the right to protection from all types of abuse. Those of us in a position of trust have to do everything possible to foster these rights. To do this, certain protections need to be in place to protect children, as well as those who work with them. The Tutor Trust takes seriously its responsibility towards safeguarding all children who engage with the charity, with the focus being on their safety and welfare. We work closely with schools to ensure our tuition is delivered safely. All staff and tutors receive an Enhanced DBS check and training in safeguarding and child protection before being allowed to represent Tutor Trust in a school. The training includes understanding why safeguarding matters, being able to identify and report correctly any concerns surrounding a child's welfare, and becoming familiar with Tutor Trust's Guidance on Conduct and Behaviour. We have a comprehensive safeguarding Policy in line with Keeping Children Safe in Education 2023 (KCSIE2023). All tutors and staff have to sign to show that this update has been read and understood each year. All our tutors must complete updated safeguarding training at the start of each academic year before they can take on any tutoring assignments. This is compulsory for every tutor wanting to work for us. Training is delivered online via our portals and tutors will not be able to apply for assignments until Tutor Trust has seen evidence of completion. Tutors complete TES level 2 safeguarding training. Staff complete TES courses on Child Protection in Education, Data Protection and The Prevent Duty, plus Safer Recruitment, on induction followed by annual refresher training. The Safeguarding Policy is available for tutors, stakeholders and the general public on our website. The policy, procedures, training materials and updates are stored on our Thinqi platform, which all tutors have access to. The safeguarding policy and procedures were amended at the start of the Coronavirus pandemic to reflect the new ways of working with young people. This was to ensure robust safeguarding mechanisms were in place when working with young people using online platforms or remote access.
