Charlie Whelan

Impact Coordinator

Charlie initially worked with us as a part-time tutor while studying English Literature at the University of Manchester. He joined our staff team in January 2022 as a full-time tutor working on the East Salford Transition Project. In January 2023, he joined the Impact team as an impact coordinator. In this role, Charlie works on pupil assessment, tutor monitoring, data analysis, and pupil focus groups.

Charlie says: "I had an interest in teaching from a young age, so when I first discovered Tutor Trust, I wanted to get involved as a tutor. Through my experience as a tutor, and especially while working on the Transition Project tutoring pupils when they were in Year 6 at Primary school and then in Year 7 at Secondary, I saw the unique and invaluable influence that tutoring can have on a pupil's school experience. This is what motivated me, when the project had concluded, to become more greatly involved in the organisation and apply to work in the Impact Team. My role allows me to help ensure that all the tuition we provide has the best possible impact on the young people we serve."
