Good Luck to Secondary pupils taking GCSE's! - 21st May 2019 This week, GCSE students will be taking Maths and English exams across the country and the Tutor Trust want to wish good luck to all pupils who’ve received tuition from us this year. It’s been another successful year for the Tutor Trust working in Secondary Schools. In the 2018-19 academic year, we’ve delivered over 5,000 hours of tuition in over 60 schools across Greater Manchester, Leeds and Liverpool. Included in these schools is Manchester-based Whalley Range High School. Whalley Range are one of our oldest partner schools, having started work with us in 2012 and requesting tuition every year since. 47% of Whalley Range pupil are eligible for free school meals. This year, 13 tutors have been supporting 49 pupils in the build up towards their Maths and English GCSEs. They will be sitting Maths and English Literature papers this week and we are sure they will perform to the best of their ability. Christine Plews, a Maths teacher at Whalley Range, had some kind words to offer on her experience with the Tutor Trust: “Our students enjoy working with the tutors in small groups on topics that have arisen from assessments in class. The tutors build a good working relationship with our students, building up their subject knowledge and exam practice at significant times in the run up to the GCSE maths exams. They are grateful for the extra support and mentoring they receive.” We asked Maths tutor Scout Barker about her time spent tutoring this year: “It was a delight to work with the students at Whalley Range. I encountered such lovely girls who had an inspiring drive to succeed, despite maths not being their favourite subject. The experience was very beneficial for me, and I believe the students. I thoroughly enjoyed it and I am excited for future assignments” Thank you to our tutors who worked in Whalley Range and all our partner schools for the fantastic job they’ve done this year. We wish the best of luck to all the pupils we’ve been supporting and are sure the hours they’ve put into tuition sessions will prove worthwhile! Manage Cookie Preferences
