Post Title: Schools Coordinator

Responsible to: Chief Operating Officer

Job Purpose:

The Schools Coordinator plays a pivotal role in the organisation of tuition programmes at schools within Greater Manchester, Leeds and Liverpool.  Working alongside Tutor Trust School Coordinators, you will be responsible for ensuring that our tuition programmes operate effectively and efficiently on a day-to-day basis.  The Schools Coordinator will share with schools the full range of Tutor Trust services, to further promote us in all three cities.

Main Functions

  • Organise tuition for your allocated Schools in the Greater Manchester area.
  • Provide holiday cover for School Coordinators across Manchester, Leeds and Liverpool.
  • To ensure that the appropriate Impact Data is collected from both tutors and schools.  This enables our Quality team to gather vital evidence of the progress children make when receiving tuition.
  • Support senior members of staff in the effective management of over 500 Tutors.
  • Manage internal communication systems to ensure that information is passed on to Schools, tutors and members of The Tutor Trust team as appropriate.
  • Effectively record and update information on internal and external databases to support the delivery of tuition.
  • Provide timely and accurate reports on tuition progress for meetings.
  • Assist with the planning and delivery of any Summer Schools.
  • Organise cover for tutors that are absent due to sickness, exams etc.
  • Provide support as required during the recruitment and training process for new tutors, in partnership with the Recruitment & Impact Coordinator and the rest of the Tutor Trust team.
  • Advertise and allocate tuition to tutors and attend meetings with schools to set up on-going tuition assignments.
  • Promote Tutor Trust tuition services to all Tutor Trust Schools across Greater Manchester, Leeds and Liverpool.
  • Represent Tutor Trust in meetings and present to a range of potential customers.
  • Develop and maintain new and existing relationships with key contacts within allocated Schools.
  • Help with preparation for Tutor Trust events aimed at a range of stakeholders.
  • Participate with project work.
  • Any other duties commensurate with the grade and nature of the post.

Person Specification

Good candidates for this role will be high achievers, with excellent IT and English skills, diplomatic and inter-personal skills and plenty of initiative.


  • Educated to degree level.
  • Must have achieved a minimum of Grade B at GCSE in Maths and English.
  • Excellent communication skills with ability to establish a rapport and communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels and from all sectors.
  • The ability to work under pressure to cope with multiple demands and deadlines, to work fast and to a consistently high standard.
  • Excellent organisational skills.
  • Have strong business development skills, helping to promote The Tutor Trust in a professional and effective manner.
  • The ability to build and maintain professional relationships.
  • The ability to manage office systems and contact databases and to use them effectively.
  • Be able to write fluently, to think clearly and to grasp new concepts quickly.
  • To be fully IT literate, particularly to be competent with Microsoft Excel and Access.
  • Can demonstrate experience of administrative skills in a previous role (either paid or voluntary).

Salary: £21,420 per annum

The job is based on a permanent contract (after a successful 3-month probation period).  Your regular place of work will be the Tutor Trust Head Office in Manchester, however the position will also involve frequent travel to our Leeds and Liverpool offices and Schools. 

The hours of work are 40 hrs per week over 52 weeks.  Holiday entitlement will be 33 days per annum (inclusive of Bank Holidays) with 3 days of your allocation to be taken over the Christmas period.  There will be events which involve working occasional unsocial hours in evenings and at weekends.
