Leeds Recruitment Progress - 31st January 2017 The Tutor Trust has been running in Leeds for almost two years now and in that time we have grown exponentially. Starting with a pilot of just 20 tutors working in two schools in February 2015, we have now grown to over 250 tutors with tuition delivered in 9 secondary schools and over 40 primary schools completing 4000 hours of teaching. Summer and Autumn of 2016 saw our biggest recruitment round ever, with 200 new tutors hired. Between July and October, we received approximately 650 applications altogether, 235 interviews were conducted and 190 applicants were successful in becoming part of our dedicated team. All of the successful applicants attended the necessary training sessions lead by professional trainers, who all have years of experience as teachers themselves. This is to make sure each and every one of our tutors are able to teach to the best of their ability. One of our newly recruited tutors, Vasileios, said: “The immense possibility to develop and nurture strong and healthy educational relationships with [his] pupils. The intensive training and ongoing support offered by Tutor Trust enabled me to fully embrace my new role and enjoy every session so far”. It was very warming to see that so many people want to help disadvantaged pupils improve their education and contributing towards closing the attainment gap. Here at Tutor Trust Leeds, we are hoping to see the charity expand more and more over the next few years to try and improve the opportunities for thousands of children in Leeds and surrounding areas.
