Tutor Trust welcomes first new tutors of 2021-22 - Tuesday 21st September 2021 The new academic year is well underway and we have been busy recruiting tutors to help us in our mission to transform lives through tutoring. And we’re delighted to welcome our first cohort of tutors for this academic year – all 36 of them. The new arrivals are now ready to take on assignments having just completed our bespoke training programme, which covers, but is not limited to, safeguarding, how to plan and deliver outstanding tutoring, and subject-specific tutoring techniques and information about the curriculum. Training involves a mixture of independent learning and live sessions directed by our qualified teachers and educational professionals. Towards the end of training, our would-be tutors are able to demonstrate what they have learned by planning an impactful tutoring session. Only when we are confident that our trainees can deliver high-quality tutoring do they successfully complete the training programme. One new tutor said of the training: “The personal feedback I received [for my planned lesson] and having the chance to go over it with a qualified teacher was really useful.” Another noted: “The training was engaging and I liked the breakout rooms as I could talk to other new tutors. This helped me feel more confident in my ability too.” Indeed, the new recruits’ confidence about providing tutoring jumped from, on average, 51% confident before starting training to 85% after completing training. This is fantastic evidence of how effective our training programme is in preparing new arrivals for the classroom. We are delighted to welcome our newest arrivals to our ranks and look forward to them delivering high-quality tutoring to pupils in schools in the Greater Manchester, Merseyside, Leeds and Bradford city regions. We will be recruiting and training more tutors in the coming months – if you are interested in applying to become a tutor with Tutor Trust, you can read more here. Manage Cookie Preferences
