Tutor Trust are devastated about the massive disruption to school life and learning that corona virus is now causing, especially for pupils who have been working so hard in the run up to exams and pupils who are vulnerable or on Free School Meals. Our thoughts are with teachers, pupils, parents and carers.

All our regular tuition sessions have now stopped, but we are exploring ways we can support children and young people in the North that had benefitted from our tutors and will still be in need of educational support as the national situation unfolds.

This week, we have been gathering data on our tutors and how they are responding to the outbreak. The majority of our tutors have stated they are willing to continue tutoring and want to help and support teachers in some capacity. This is very reassuring and makes us very proud to have such a dedicated group of individuals representing us. We have extended an offer of our support to all schools across Greater Manchester, Leeds and Liverpool that we are ready and willing to assist them in any way we can. This could include the Easter and Summer holidays, and we will be in touch with them again over the coming days.

And of course, whenever schools are able to re-open, our tutors will be available to support pupils and help boost their attainment and aspirations.

There will be some continuation of our work with Looked After Children and vulnerable young people. If you’d like more information on this aspect of our work and our Right Angle project, you can contact Joanne Meredith, Director of Alternative Provision.

The Tutor Trust wants to thank everyone who has supported us this year and take this opportunity to wish all our partner teachers, tutors, funders and of course pupils, well during this challenging time.

If you are a tutor who has further questions about how the situation affects you, please refer to our Covid-19 Tutor FAQs section.

NOTE: The Tutor Trust office will be closed from Tuesday 24th March until further notice, however staff will be working full-time from home and are contactable by email. Phone calls to the office will be redirected to the relevant staff member.
