Our latest cohort of tutors-to-be have just started training with us after an intensive few days of interviews last week. Well done and welcome aboard!

We are delighted that 55 students and alumni from universities across our city regions of Leeds, Manchester and Liverpool are joining our existing team of highly-qualified tutors.  We have a tough recruitment and interview process so congratulations to everyone who made it to the next stage. Our newest recruits are already training online and will be in our virtual classroom for their first face-to-face live training session next week.

This latest recruitment round brings our total of new tutors to almost 600 this academic year.  This level of growth in the number of tutors working for Tutor Trust is unprecedented for us, and comes in direct response to the increasing number of requests from schools for tutoring support, following closures as a result of Covid-19.  Our mission is to transform lives through tutoring, and, as a partner in the National Tutoring Programme, we want to ensure that all those pupils needing high-quality tutoring receive it.

All our tutors undergo 10 hours of intensive training to equip them to deliver great tuition sessions for their tutees, whether they’re in the classroom or studying online. Training includes creating a lesson plan in their chosen subject, which is then marked by our Quality and Impact team. Only when this lesson plan is rated ‘good’ or ‘outstanding’ are our tutors ready to work in a real-life setting.

We will be holding the final round of interviews for this academic year during the week commencing 12 April.  We are especially keen to hear from those wanting to be Primary Tutors, to help deliver our engaging Puppies and Pirates programme, or who are already Qualified Teachers or would like to tutor Maths or Science.  If this is you, please get in touch with our Recruitment Team: [email protected].

If you’d like to know more about training and the tutoring experience, read Madeehah and Matt’s blogs about their training experiences here, and you’ll find more stories on our blog pages too. There’s also more information, and our online application form, on our recruitment pages.
