Equity, Diversity and Inclusion

Tutor Trust is dedicated to championing and celebrating diversity across all aspects of our work. We are committed to equality of opportunity for all of our staff, tutors and tutees, regardless of gender identity, sexual orientation, religion or belief, disability, ethnic origin, age, or nationality.

This commitment is embedded in our mission, vision and values. In particular, in our firm belief in fairness, empowered inclusivity, and continuous learning and reflection.

Our Equity, Diversity & Inclusion team works diligently to put these beliefs into practice. So far, we have made positive steps toward a more inclusive culture, including:

  • The requirement for all staff to complete Unconscious Bias training
  • Support for tutors and coordinators on how to handle difficult situations in schools - for example, misgendering pupils
  • Sharing of collaborative Equity, Diversity and Inclusion resources and reading lists across our staff team
  • Ongoing analysis of Diversity and Inclusion statistics within tutor recruitment
  • The creation of a series of online tutorials for tutors focused on specific educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND)
  • Hosting of live Equity, Diversity and Inclusion CPDs for staff and tutors focused on socio-economic disadvantage in education
  • Continuous development of an Equity, Diversity and Inclusion resources library on Thinqi – our online training platform – for tutors, including lesson plan guidance and tutor well-being signposting

We are constantly striving to expand and improve our efforts and are receptive to any suggestions. Please find more information about our Equity, Diversity and Inclusion team members below, including contact details if you have any questions:
