We are delighted to partner with AllChild, a national charity which helps young people and families to flourish through local connections

With over a decade of experience in schools across the North, Tutor Trust are providing tailored English and maths support in seven schools in the Wigan and Leigh area. Tuition is part of a wider AllChild project supporting children who would benefit the most from bespoke support.

Tuition began in October 2025 as part of AllChild’s offer, which spans 2 years, during which there are various opportunities for young people. This powerful project is estimated to create financial savings and economic benefits to local communities of around £81,000 per child on average.

AllChild (formerly West London Zone) is a charity that supports communities in underserved neighbourhoods across the UK to help children and young people build the social, emotional and academic skills they need to flourish.

Tuition has commenced

With tutoring starting in the first week of October, we are now working hard in seven schools across Wigan and Leigh, including four primary schools and three secondary schools. In total, the partnership will see 190 pupils receiving academic support. Our tuition model, which has been independently evaluated, will be taking place in all seven schools, with programmes lasting up to 30 weeks.

Our high-quality tuition forms a key part of the educational support provided in the project, and we have high hopes for the future.

One of the schools we are working with as part of the new partnership is Newton Westpark Primary School, where the percentage of children who are eligible for free school meals is double the average across England.

Catherine Marlow, All Child Senior Link Worker with Family Engagement Specialism at Newton Westpark, shared the following about our partnership:

From the very beginning, our experience with Tutor Trust has been exceptional. Communication has been clear and consistent, and the induction process was thorough and well-supported."

She went on to say:

"Our tutors, Frazer and Sasha, have been absolutely brilliant. Although it’s only the third week of their work with the children, they’ve already begun to establish strong, trusting relationships. They listened carefully to insights from both me and the Year 5 teacher, tailoring their sessions to the children’s strengths, whether that’s incorporating games or making learning fun and engaging.

"The impact is already clear. The children are eager to attend their sessions and return with smiles on their faces. Some even ask on Thursday and Friday mornings if it’s their turn for maths or English! Not a single child has declined to take part or expressed reluctance to do extra learning, which speaks volumes about the tutors’ approach and rapport.

"At the end of each day, I receive updates on how the children have engaged in their sessions, and Tutor Trust also organises review meetings every three weeks to discuss progress. This ongoing communication ensures that the support remains responsive and effective.

"Providing academic support through our AllChild Programme is essential, and having qualified, knowledgeable teachers deliver that support makes a real difference. These sessions not only strengthen academic skills but also build the children’s confidence, social awareness, and emotional resilience in the subjects they find most challenging.

Together, we’re helping children believe in their abilities and enjoy learning again."
