The Tutor Trust wins at the Spirit of Manchester Awards 2016! - 11th November 2016 The Tutor Trust is delighted to have won the Spirit of Manchester award for ‘Best Partnership Initiative / Collaboration’, making us now a multi-award winning charity after the Charity Times Awards. The Spirit of Manchester awards are hosted by Macc, the voluntary, community and social enterprise sector support organisation for Manchester. The organisation provides support to local groups in sourcing funds, initiating and developing their charities, and campaigning, amongst offering other support. Macc also runs the Manchester Voluntary Sector Assembly and Volunteer Centre Manchester. The awards were set up in 2013 to celebrate the work of volunteers and paid staff working in organisations within the third sector across the city. In their press release announcing the awards, the Chief Executive of Macc, Mike Wild, said: “The Spirit of Manchester programme is our invitation to everyone in Manchester to join us in discovering and celebrating the amazing work of local charities, community groups and voluntary organisations all across the city. There’s a wealth of talent, passion and energy in hundreds of groups and organisations working in local communities. These are the groups who support the most vulnerable and marginalised and also they’re part of the fabric of the city running after-school clubs, sports groups and lots of the social and cultural activities in Manchester. Every year, we find out about more wonderful local groups and projects” The award for ‘Best Partnership Initiative/ Collaboration’ celebrates the relationships built across organisations within the voluntary sector, and The Tutor Trust were delighted to have been recognised for such efforts. Co-Founders and Directors, Nick Bent and Abigail Shapiro, said: “We are delighted to have won this award in particular because everything we do in order to deliver top quality tuition to children in schools is achieved through our partnerships, be it with Universities, business, other charities, and with the schools themselves. We would like to thank such partners as Teach First, Frontline, PwC, SHINE, the Education Endowment Foundation, Manchester City Council and so many more who aid us in being able to carry out the work that we so passionately believe in, and of course, thank you to the judges of Macc for this accolade.” The event was supported by and held in the Sheridan Suite, and hosted by the Lord Mayor of Manchester, Councillor Carl Austin-Behan, The Tutor Trust were delighted to attend; be it the office team who work hard every day in facilitating the work we do in schools or the outstanding tutors who carry out the work we do with children on a daily basis. The Tutor Trust would like to thank Macc for hosting such a fantastic event, and would like to congratulate all the other nominees and winners of the Spirit of Manchester Awards in 2016.
