The Tutor Trust are delighted to welcome two former Headteachers to our team. Jo Meredith and Mark Wyss joined us at the start of January 2019 to enhance the charity’s work as we continue to expand and engage with an increased number of young people. Jo will be our new Alternative Provision Quality Manager, whilst Mark will become our Schools Partnership Manager.

Jo has taught in schools across the Greater Manchester area, working as a Headteacher at a high school in Stockport. Following a fulfilling career in mainstream education, Jo then taught Science to young people across the city who are in Alternative Provision. Her experience in Manchester and of working in Alternative Provision makes Jo the ideal person to oversee ‘The Right Angle’, our Department for Education funded shared project, with the charity TLC; Talk Listen Change, that will provide academic assistance to pupils in Alternative Provision. Jo is very excited about working with us:

“I hope to bring my experience, enthusiasm and determination to the work of Tutor Trust to transform lives and support young people currently in Alternative Provision settings to overcome barriers and enable them to prepare for successful and fulfilling lives.  I cannot wait to see the impact that the Right Angle Project will have upon the lives of the young people we are working with. It has the potential to be life transforming for vulnerable young people at a crucial point on their educational journey.”

Mark has worked in Education for twenty years, teaching Languages, English, PE and IT; and spent time as the Principal at Ormiston Bolingbroke Academy in Runcorn. He also has a decade of experience as a Senior Leader in the North West and is now a North West Area Leader and Associate for the Partners in Excellence (PiXL) school improvement organisation. He has worked extensively with headteachers and works part time as Vice Principal at the Albion Academy in Salford. Mark’s experience will be hugely beneficial to the Tutor Trust as we develop our relationships with schools across Greater Manchester and Liverpool.

Mark has said:

“I am excited to be joining the vibrant Tutor Trust team as School Partnership Manager. It is thrilling to know that I can help to play a key part in delivering tuition and better life chances to even more young people across the North West.  These are exciting times at The Tutor Trust and I can't wait to get started!”

Our Co-Founders, Abigail and Nick, were equally thrilled about Jo and Mark joining the Tutor Trust:

“We are delighted to welcome both Jo and Mark to the Tutor Trust team.  They bring with them a wealth of experience and expertise from their previous roles across the North West and we look forward to the contribution they will make.  As former Headteachers they are uniquely placed to understand the challenges faced in schools today and we are delighted that they recognise the significant difference that Tutor Trust can make to the lives of young people.”
