We’re proud to be involved in this year’s Children’s Mental Health Week 2023, created by one of our charity partner organisations, Place2Be. This year’s theme is ‘Let’s Connect’, highlighting the importance of relationship building and supporting young people to unlock their potential and thrive.

One of the things we do best at Tutor Trust is enabling the young people we work with to reach their potential thanks to the strong, trusting relationships they build with their tutor over the course of a block of tuition. We achieve this through small group tuition (a maximum of three pupils per tutor) and a focus on relationship building through our tutor training, our amazing Snap Survey, and a series of tutorials and CPD sessions to support our tutors throughout their time with us.

You can read about how tutoring helps our tutors and tutees to connect as part of our mental health blog series here:

This year, during this Children’s Mental Health Week, follow us on social media (@TheTutorTrust) where we’ll be sharing some of our favourite tutoring resources from Place2Be to enhance your tutoring sessions.

And if you’re a tutor with us, we’ve got two upcoming events to mark the occasion:

Relationships: Your most valuable resource for classroom success

Free tutor CPD: Wednesday 8th February 2023, 4pm – 5pm, Zoom.

We are all aware that building good relationships is the key to success in any environment. However, this is even more crucial when working with children and young people, especially those who are vulnerable and may have experienced trauma.

Come join Jo Meredith, former Secondary Headteacher and our Director of Tutoring Plus, to take a look into some tried and tested strategies for developing trusting relationships. Jo recently hosted this workshop with amazing reviews from the University of Manchester's Inclusion Conference 2023, and it's sure to be an engaging session for all. These relationships are key to ensuring engagement and achievement, so make sure you come to pick up some new ideas.

If you’d like to find out more about relationship-building with pupils, then you can read Jo’s blog here.
