Partnership with Place2Be begins with CPD event - 11th April 2019 The Tutor Trust is proud to announce our new partnership with the charity Place2Be, who will be collaborating with us on a CPD event on the 9th May this year. We are very much looking forward to beginning our partnership with Place2Be, a national mental health charity providing school-based support to improve children’s mental health and the emotional well-being of pupils and their families. Just like Place2Be, many of the young people we support receive free school meals (FSM) or Pupil Premium funding. Abigail Shapiro, Co-Founder of The Tutor Trust, said, “It’s fantastic that The Tutor Trust and Place2Be are working together to support a group of young people who really need it. With an increased understanding of mental health, our tutors will be even better equipped to provide a higher quality of tuition to promote positive outcomes.” Catherine Roche, Chief Executive Officer at Place2Be, also said, “We are delighted to have this opportunity to work in partnership with The Tutor Trust, providing an understanding of children’s mental health along with the important link between behaviour, what might lie behind it, and engagement in learning. This introductory workshop focuses on developing listening skills and creative, non-verbal ways to communicate effectively with young people. We look forward to our work developing with Abigail and her team.” Growing evidence indicates that promoting positive mental health improves a range of positive school outcomes such as attitudes to learning and lower exclusion rates. This is why The Tutor Trust and Place2Be will be running the event for all tutors so that they feel more confident and are better equipped to support children during their tuition lessons.
